Joint event with Hachidori Denryoku (Borderless Japan)

Making environmental choices easier, from renewable energy to water.
SIJ × Hachidori Denryoku

How can we make choices that are better for people and the planet feel easier and more natural in everyday life?

On 4th August, mymizu and Hachidori Denryoku co-hosted the online special talk “未来にいいことを、もっと心地よく。”

The conversation brought together Mariko McTier, Co-Founder of Social Innovation Japan and mymizu, and Kazunari Taguchi, Founder and CEO of Borderless Japan and representative of Hachidori Denryoku. Taguchi-san is a pioneer in Japan’s social business sector, with nearly two decades of experience building businesses designed to address social and environmental challenges.

Key themes

  • Lowering the barriers to action
Sustainable choices need to fit naturally into everyday life.

  • Creating better alternatives
From refilling water bottles to choosing renewable energy, better systems can make action easier.

  • Moving beyond fear and guilt
Positive and inviting approaches can help more people participate in change.

  • Turning individual action into collective change
Small actions can begin to shift what society sees as normal when more people take part.

The discussion reflected a shared belief between mymizu and Hachidori Denryoku: meaningful change is not only about asking people to do more, but about creating choices and systems that make participation easier.
