On 10 April 2019, SIJ co-founder Robin Lewis was invited to moderate a panel discussion at the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Innovation Accelerator in Tokyo.

Today, 821 million people are suffering from hunger and global hunger is on the rise, despite the many advances we see around us.

The panelists - Robert Opp (Director of Innovation, WFP), Haruna Tanaka (Chief Executive Innovation Office, Rakuten), Satoshi Akita (CEO, Wassha Inc.) and Yuki Ono (Head of Overseas Expansion Team, Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support) - discussed the roles of technology and innovation in ending world hunger and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs).

While the challenges are large and complex, there is ample opportunity for startups, corporates, government, UN agencies, and civil society groups to collaborate and make a major difference...

Thank you to the WFP team for organising and for letting us be part of the discussion 🙏
