Case Study: mymizu

mymizu, created and operated by Social Innovation Japan, is a multiple award-winning initiative to tackle single-use plastic.

As the world’s leading free water refill app, mymizu connects people to 10,000+ water refill stations (water fountains and partner cafes, shops, hotels) across Japan and 200,000 globally. Using mymizu, it’s possible to refill your water bottle anywhere – it’s good for the planet, the body and the wallet!

Since launching in September 2019, the mymizu app has gained users across 50 countries and tracked the reduction of over 200,000 PET bottles.

Social Innovation Japan established strategic partnerships and collaborations between the mymizu brand and leading global companies such as Audi, Nike and Mitsubishi Chemical, as well as City Governments, schools and universities to reduce plastic consumption and build a more sustainable society.
